Two of our three children were born in Switzerland, a truly profound experience. The care and attention we received was unparalleled!
Although I was raised on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, I have been privileged to live, work, and reside in Switzerland and all regions of Alberta. This diverse experience has enhanced my understanding of the childbirth and doula culture in Europe, as well as in Western Canada.
I began working as a Birth and Postpartum doula in 2006. I am a wife, a mother to 3 children and 3 angel babies, and have been a foster mom to 5 children under five.
I am wholeheartedly dedicated to families with an extended focus on thriving parents and children and healthy communities. My current qualifications include:
Certified Birth Doula, CDA(BD)
Certified Postpartum Doula, CDA(PPD)
Approved Birth Doula + Postpartum Doula Trainer
Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator, LCCE
Certified Lactation Educator, CLE
Infant Sleep Educator, ISE
Perinatal Support Group Facilitator
StillBirthday Loss + Bereavement Doula, SBD
Our family is settled on a second generation farm Northwest of Cochrane and I offer comprehensive education, doula care, and breastfeeding support to families with singletons and multiples.
I firmly believe every family deserves evidence-based, wraparound support.
Wherever you are in your journey — expecting your first child, seeking breastfeeding support, or navigating postpartum, I encourage you to connect. It would be my privilege to walk alongside your family, offering support in whatever way you need.

Heather has always had a passion for children, learning and teaching. These callings led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education at the University of Calgary. She then went on to proudly teach for the Calgary Board of Education until the birth of her second child.
Upon his arrival she retired from the board to begin another career - raising three amazing sons and volunteering in their schools, where she found herself directing some of their student productions and running early literacy programs.
Throughout her pregnancies, sons’ births and their eventual leaving of the nest, Heather was an avid student of pregnancy, labour and parenthood through ongoing research and lived experience. As her children became more independent, it was a natural next step to combine her psychological background in development, her teaching and her lived experience as a birthing person and parent to pursue birth work - and so began her third career.
Now a Certified Birth Doula, Certified Bereavement Doula, Certified Lactation Educator, Certified Childbirth Educator, Certified Dancing For Birth Instructor and Postpartum Doula, Heather is an ardent supporter, educator and ambassador for pregnancy, birth and postpartum. She also believes that Doulas are an incredibly important resource for birthing persons and families and that being a Doula is an immense privilege and responsibility.

Hello!
My name is Polina Panshina and I am a birth doula and a childbirth educator. I have always had a passion for supporting women and their families during one of the most transformative and empowering experiences of their lives – childbirth. As a mother myself, I understand the importance of having a knowledgeable and compassionate support system during this time.
But at that very moment I am so thrilled to be joining the Canadian Doula Academy as an International Student Liaison and Scholarship Coordinator. My journey to the birth world has taken me to different countries around the world and I do know how important it is to find someone from “home” to be there for you…I would be honored to help students from different countries to find their passion through the Canadian Doula Academy and to walk alongside families when they are not just going through very intimate stage of their lives, but also face a lot of cultural differences and uncertainties. If you think that it is what you are looking for – just open your heart and give it a try.
